Word came out today that comic legend Joe Kubert has passed on.

He was born in September 18, 1926. He was a true icon and gentleman in the industry. To say he will be missed is a drastic understatement. Few men will ever have a legacy like Mr. Kubert has. He spent so many years creating truly amazing comics. And dedicated so much of his time seeing to the future of the industry he loved. Along with his sons and may other talented creators he founded the Kubert school. An institution designed to teach the next generation of comic artists.

I did not know him personally. But I know of him and I have had books from him to learn from. I cannot say how much I am going to miss him and his work. The world is better for having had him here for the time we did.

God bless you Mr. Kubert. And may God bless the family and friends and fans he leaves behind.

Yeah. :( There are so many artists I look up to who are getting older and it makes me so sad to know someday they will be gone.

This news hit hard. I just graduated from the Kubert School just three months ago. Having been around the man for that last nine months I can tell you that he showed no sign of illness. Always able to half slap you down with a mighty bear paw back slap and his throaty chuckle. He was a true ambassador for Comics as a legitimate industry and was a symbol of production. I look back now with that final third year class and realize just how much knowledge has been lost to the rest of the classes behind ours. Joe's power as a promoter for us all will be felt. Joe would have wanted to see everyone who loves this industry to keep working hard. Keep making comics. it was his passion and his life. I will miss him.

I wan never lucky enough to met him but he was an icon to me. I had books of his, an autograph of a card he drew. I always hoped to met him or work with him and now that hope is gone.
The industry lost a real guidepost today.

When I heard the news I didn't think it was going to hit me. Yet, like that bear paw back slap Joe got on last emotional response. It shows me just how much he really did mean to me and what an impression he left with me. I feel like I lost an Uncle I was just getting to know who was one of the coolest people I had ever met. He was a very commanding person. one of a kind.

Yes it is. It is hard to realize when your in the presence of greatness somethings. Joe made it easy to be there with him. To me it was that ability to teach and not be afraid of showing you how it could be done that was special about him. Too many today are protective of how they do things instead of showing how to do things. Joe was selfless.

Yeah that was something about him I was always awed by. That he was so free with his instructions.
